This technique will teach you how to go into and out of the earth rapidly and efficiently. Based on the principle of the spiral, it encourages the practice of following pathways in a curve, enabling the whole body to travel down and up (or vice versa). Each participant will learn the foundations, with an emphasis simultaneously on their individual approach and their connection with the whole group. Once connected, we practise fast and with loud music.

Flying low is a technique initiated and developed by David Zambrano. Irene practises with him regularly at his Art Centre in Brussels. Her method of teaching this technique tries to be as true as possible to Zambrano’s original teachings. Focusing particularly on curves and spirals with Irene, you will become an expert in effortlessness and elegance.

The classes will focus on the discipline of Acrobatic Movement and how to take a healthy approach to this intense training.

Mimbre is a female-led company creating nuanced, breath-taking and highly-skilled acrobatic theatre. We use circus and dance innovatively as a physical language to illuminate human connections and promote a positive image of women.

In these morning classes we will teach a range of specialised acrobatics movements and techniques from Mimbre’s repertoire of tricks and styles, including fluid movements along the floor and upside-down shapes (handstands, headstands and other figures).

Each day will start with a full physical warm-up, which will cover agility and stamina training, along with strengthening and injury prevention exercises, followed by individual acrobatics techniques.
We will also look at creative and innovative approaches to choreographing acrobatics, building up to creating small choreographic sequences with the material learnt and explore how to keep the complicity between the participants despite not using physical contact with each other.
We’ll also work on a range of specialised acrobalance techniques from mimbre’s repertoire of tricks and styles: we’ll explore how two or more people connect physically, catching, pushing and climbing on each other to create beautiful imagery.

We are very inclusive and can adapt the movements to anyone’s ability. We’re very experienced in approaching physical limits (injury, disability, body type) as creative springboards instead of stopping points, using restrictions as tools to come up with new and original ways of working.

The classes are very physical and dynamic, drawing from Sabrina’s background and experience as a professional dance artist and physical theatre performer.

The classes includes exercises that allow connecting of breath and body, improvisation, floor work, which is very enriched by the use of spirals, fast transitions to challenge coordination and stamina and a big influence of capoeira which is inspiring Sabrina’s work for seven years.
